Villa “Rosa dei Venti” is located in Cortona, where the grapes and olives have been grown for wine and olive oil since the Etruscan times. The estate was purchased in full by Barbara and Stefano Micheli in the early 1900s from their great grandparents, Angiolo and Felice. The estate has always been cared for by family members; Barbara and Stefano are proud to be at the helm.
The origins of the Villa date back to the 18th century, when the property belonged to an ancient noble family of Cortona. The name of Rosa dei Venti came from Rino Micheli, Stefano’s father. His dream was to make the Villa a favored destination for international visitors and tourists. “Guests will come here from all over the world; we will be like a compass rose (Rosa dei Venti) for them,” Rino said to his sons. From that day forward, it was known as such, with the breeze blowing across the gentle hills of Valdichiana looking up at Cortona.
The breeze and scents carried by the winds are part of the sensory experience of Rosa dei Venti, together with the dedication of your hosts, Barbara and Stefano.
