The sun is the energy behind everything at Villa Rosa dei Venti: it is present in the warmth of our welcome, the colors of the garden, and in the decor of the rooms, apartments, and cottages. But it is also fundamental for our agricultural products.
The microclimate of the land at the foot of Cortona gives the Sangiovese and Chardonnay grapes that we grow their particular identity and helps us craft wines that are round on the nose and in the mouth. The olive groves, cared for with the wisdom of ages, offer an extra virgin olive oil with intense aromas and fruity notes, perfect for serving with Tuscan cuisine. And then there’s our Vin Santo, a truly authentic Tuscan wine that we proudly serve our guests and made entirely by hand from our dried grapes and honey.
Our vineyards are surrounded by olive groves and expanses of sunflowers, which bring precious biodiversity to the area. The climate is temperate, with nighttime temperatures sealing in the flavors conferred by the earth during the day. Our skilled vineyard workers care for the vines as if they were flowers, tending to each vine-root throughout the year, in preparation for the September harvest. Each step of the production cycle is carefully managed, from the vineyard to the cellar and during the refinement process. This is how the red wine, Rosa dei Venti, and the white wine from our Chardonnay grapes are born.
The olive oil from Villa “Rosa dei Venti” captures the colors of the olive groves and the light of the sun in its fruity and intense aromas. We have about 400 olive trees on the farm of several varieties, including Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo and Pendolino.
The hand-picked olives are placed in boxes and taken to the oil mill where they are pressed within 48 hours to avoid oxidation and preserve the organoleptic properties related to taste and smell. The oil is for sale in bottles of 0.25 l, 0.50 l, 0.75 l and 1 liter. Like with our wines, we only produce limited amounts of extra virgin olive oil, to be used just for guests of the Villa and the Micheli family.
Olive oil can be shipped around the world.
